I have a servi car and don't know much. I am trying to to find out the year so I have a starting point. I think it had a 1000cc ironhead motor. The serial number is in the motor but I can't find anything on the web sights that I have searched.

Darrell... welcome to TrikeTalk from west Texas!

There have been a few postings about people wanting info on the Servi-Car.

You might try a "search" on TrikeTalk to see what you come up with.

Here's a link I found to a post just this last June. Particularly look at Posts #2 and #3 when it opens.

Also, when I clicked on the link provided for the manual it took a good 30 seconds to fully load the manual. If you don't wait for it to load and start scrolling down all you will see are blank pages... hope this helps.

Re Servi car help

Trikes didn't come with 1000cc ironhead motors (as far as I know) . If it has a ironhead motor then it's been modified with a sportster motor . Post a picture then someone can help you figure out what exactly you have . Do you have a title for it?

Over the years I have built several (3) 'sportster' trikes and 2 panhead trikes. They were all built with swingarm frames but used no shocks . I built them to bolt together and be able to go back to 2 wheels . All had the original drum brake rear axles .

Servi cars were side valve 45 cubic engines ( Flatheads, cast iron) 750 cc;)

Welcome to TT Darrell.:clapping:

Harley used engine serial#'s exclusively to ID their bikes/trikes until 1968?, when they began stamping VIN's on their frames.

What are the first 4~5 #'s stamped on your engine? That should help to confirm what you have if it has a HD factory case.

To "transplant" a bigger engine into a Servi-Car frame would take quite a bit of work, but it's been done before!

Jack you are 99% correct,i say 99% because HD made 3 Knuckle powered shaft drive servi cars for the Canadian military.Info courtesy of Wheels thru Time Museum.

I have a photo of that;) HD also made a mini tank for Canada powered by knuclehead engines Thanks for the post

What exactly is it you need to know about the Servi-Car?

There were only 2 types of Servi-Car rearends made. One was a mechanical brake setup and later they built one with Hydraulic Drums. I have modified the Hydraulic rearend to work on numerous swingarm Harley frames. Mods including Disk Brakes, etc. I am pretty sure I have the Servi-Car manual somewhere on one of my computers. But again, it will only cover the flathead engine and the rear section. Message me if you want it or have any other questions.

Are you sure about the size

30mm are available https://www.amazon.com/Mikuni-Carburetor-150cc-200cc-XR200R/dp/B005CXBW1G

but the 30mm might be small for the 45ci. I ran a 36 or 38 (i don't remember which) on a 750cc Trident engine back in the 70s and it was fine for that.

Disregard this post. I was mistakenly responding to an old post on putting mikuni on Servicar and then mistakenly posted on this thread instead. Hadn't finished my coffee when I did this.

Welcome to Trike Talk. As someone already stated ,if motor is original, serial # is stamped on left side bottom of jugs. Year is there. Find that & also post a picture of your HD
